Queen Of Hearts Challenge

I haven't have much time for art lately, but today I got inspired to enter the Queen of Hearts Challenge on Quietfire Style blog, check the link for all the details.

I did a journal page with some heart shaped playing cards from the dollar store. I used my Zyron to put adhesive on the back of one card and sprinkled sugar beads on. For the other card I used the face side and added the word "of" and a label cut and embossed with the Cuttlebug Build a Flower set. This was stamped with the Quietfire stamp "All that's important". The sugar bead heart is mounted with pop dots. The page is coloured with Fired Brick and Tea Dye Distress Ink. I used the flourish stamps from the Quietfire Design Queen of Hearts set. The flower is pulled from a silk flower stem. The date Feb 11 is from a West Coast Express train ticket and the 20 is computer generated.

This also is my entry for the Created Byhand Challenge

Greeting Card Aug 12 Byhand Challenge

Yellow is one of the themes for the Byhand Challenge this week and I used a yellow scrapbook paper embossed with the butterflies background from the Cuttlebug Heritage embossing folder set. I sanded the high points to reveal the white core and then flattened it back out by running through the Cuttlebug a second time without the folder. Next I embossed with the gate folder, also from the Heritage set, and rubbed a Tuxedo Black Memento Dewdrop ink pad over the high points. The butterfly wings from a Crafty Secrets set are stamped and embossed with black, then coloured with gel pens. This is layered over a yellow and then white cardstock, attached to the gate background and a yellow gem sticker added to the goddess which is a Quietfire Design stamp. "Follow your dreams" quote is also from Quietfire Design and is stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento ink on white cardstock and attached to the gate with brads. This is then attached to a 5 X 6.5 white card blank

Mar 10, 2009 Created Byhand Challenge

The challenge this week is to make art using the colours green and blue. For my entry I made these 3 ATCs with paper from a gift bag which I misted with water and crumpled then smoothed out and dried. I tore this paper into 2in. by 3 in. pieces and mounted them to blue cardstock. Then the fun began by selecting the blue and green buttons and sewing them on to the ATC. The final step was to mount this on green cardstock.

Created Byhand Challenge March 2

This weeks challenge is to create art using the word "Believe" and since I was already making this little journal for my blog candy it was perfect for the challenge. For the covers I used scrapbook cardstock and the front cover includes the word BELIEVE. I glued the cardstock to 4X4 in. coasters for the front and back covers, distressed with a sanding block and Vintage Photo Distressed Ink and rubbed the edges with Spun Gold acrylic paint.
The first page is a mono-print background I made awhile ago using watercolour paper and gel paints. I cut it to size, stamped the word believe with an alphabet stamp and Sage pigment ink pad. Next I stamped my favourite quote, which Suzanne at Quietfire Design has made into a beautiful rubber stamp, with Timber Brown StazOn ink. The rest of the other 11 pages are blank watercolour paper and the journal is bound with the Zutter BindItAll. This journal is part of the blog candy in the previous post so you might want to check that out.

Created Byhand Challenge Jan 13

The theme for this weeks challenge is to use the word love somewhere in a project. I created a piece with gel paints then cut it into three quarter inch squares to make the L. I placed these on a black cardstock rubber stamped with a woven background stamp in white pigment ink. The letters "o, v, e" are alphabet stamps embossed with detail copper embossing powder. This is a 4X4.5 fat book page format. You can see more entries here at the Created Byhand Challenge
I think it's about time for some blog candy, so I will draw from names of anyone who leaves a comment on this post and also says they collect fat book pages and would like this one. The draw will take place on Jan. 31, 2009 so check back then.

Edit: I will do the draw sometime on Sunday, so anyone who wants to get a last minute entry in the draw has until Sun. morning.

Journal Page With Tags

This weeks Created Byhand Challenge is to use tags in a project so I finished off a journal page I originally created for the spritzes, sprays and splashes challenge. I printed some notes on the back of the page, because this was also my entry in the Artella Paradise challenge and added the tags with photos of my shawl and a bowl of yarn. The tags were aged with Distress Ink Walnut stain. I then tipped the page into my Zutter bound journal

Byhand Challenge Buttons

This weeks challenge is to use buttons, so I made an ATC using my rose photo with a canvas filter, mounted on black cardstock and glued 3 buttons on. This time I did the whole card myself, even to getting the back on a little crocked. Can't blame anyone else, but maybe it will be my left handed art signature.

Spritzes, Sprays and Splashes

The Created Byhand Tuesday Challenge for this week is to use spritzes, sprays, splashes or colour washes. My entry is a 5.25 in.X7.5 in. journal page "Paradise". I sprayed coffee onto watercolour paper, printed my edited digital photo of lilacs and journal writing on the paper, stamped the Quietfire Design quote stamp and some flourish stamps in Timber Green Stayzon and Cocoa pigment inks. I finished by spritzing more coffee with gold Perfect Pearls mixed in.

Distress Ink ATC

This weeks Created Byhand Challenge is to use Distress Inks. I started my ATC by spritzing watercolour paper, crumpling and rubbing Antique Linen Distress Ink, I then ironed the paper flat. I cut a piece of pink cardstock to an ATC size and stamped the heart flourish and flourishes from some quote stamps (Quietfire Design) with Walnut Ink Distress Ink. I layered the watercolour paper, a cast paper from a heart rubber stamp onto the pink cardstock with mini brads.
