The theme for this weeks challenge is to use the word love somewhere in a project. I created a piece with gel paints then cut it into three quarter inch squares to make the L. I placed these on a black cardstock rubber stamped with a woven background stamp in white pigment ink. The letters "o, v, e" are alphabet stamps embossed with detail copper embossing powder. I think it's about time for some blog candy, so I will draw from names of anyone who leaves a comment on this post and also says they collect fat book pages and would like this one. The draw will take place on Jan. 31, 2009 so check back then.

May Fat Book Page

This is the Fat Book Page I made for the Byhand Artists Yalpha Mingle. I started the same as the journal page in this previous post. I assembled the front and back leaving the edge open to form a pocket for the tag. The tag is a digital scrapbook paper resized to fit the tag dimensions and my "L" quote and info on the back. The front of the tag is a Quietfire Design stamp with pigment ink and embossed with Peidot embossing powder. I punched holes along the edge and added tons of fibres.

I started with a watercolour wash on wet watercolour paper, stamped the letters L E F T with black dye ink while still wet, then misted to let the letters blead. This larger piece was cut to 4X4.5 inches. I then stamped the words hand, art and my name from the quietfire design "Love where you're at" stamp and embossed with Perridot and copper detail embossing powder. This is tipped into my journal on a small tab of card stock. The back of this page is a digital image of my cast with digital journaling. The digital signatures on my cast were gathered by my friend Yogi from members of the Byhand Artists Group on Yahoo. The Fat Book page was done from a scan of the background paper, printed at 80% tint, cut to size then stamped and embossed the same as the journal page.

Yeah, I managed to get a second piece done for this weeks challenge. This one started with the recycled grey cardstock which I sponged ink onto. I then stamped the harlequin diamond (Quietfire Design) and another harlequin diamand with antique linen Dstress Ink. I used the vintage photo, metal photo corners and metal frame. Fat Book Page version 2

This is a scan of another old photo, the dress is coloured using digital software. The background is a scan of silk painting printed on watercolour paper. This little piece is a favourite, it was done on cream coloured silk using a sugar syrup resist, messy and fun, maybe I'll get back into silk painting, I haven't done it in years.

The back of the page is a scrapbook image printed on watercolour paper and stamped with another Quietfire Design rubber stamp using scarlet pigment ink and amythest embossing powder.

Fat Book Page

I've continued playing with scans of my silk painting to use as backgrounds. I used a scan of an old photo and tinted the background, cut the photo with a deckle edge scissors and mounted it on black cardstock. The text is printed on a translucent paper and torn. I layered 2 paper flowers and attached to the lower right corner with a brad.
The back of the page is stamped with a Quietfire Design rubber stamp which I took the liberty of changing from Christmas to Birthday. I stamped with scarlet pigment ink and embossed with amythest ep.

I used toilet tissue, layed it over a plastic mold and sprizted the tissue. I used a small brush to gently push the tissue into the mold and allowed to dry. I then repeated the layering and misting for about 8 layers of toilet tissue. I then filled in the raised area with extra bits of tissue. This one was mounted on watercolour paper and coated with 3 coats of matt medium. I stitched a row of beads and random single beads through the layers. The finale step was to attach the 2.5 X 3.5 inch card on to a 4 X 4.5 inch fat book page of watercolour paper printed with a scan of silk painting.
